The Orange Story website is live!
It’s officially here! The Orange Story film was released in 2016, and we are now pleased to share the full movie and educational website that will introduce students to the history of Japanese American incarceration during WWII.
What’s unusual about this project is its model: it uses a fiction film to help students enter into the material from the heart, then provides primary source material to introduce key historical concepts. At the end of The Orange Story, links are provided to more in-depth resources, and discussion questions encourage reflection.
We are so grateful for all of the input from our academic advisors on this website, in particular our lead advisor, Jasmine Alinder and her interns. It was such a pleasure working with Jasmine, and we couldn’t have done it without her dedication and expertise. Thanks also to Iron Design in Ithaca, NY, who handled the website development.
The Orange Story was produced by Full Spectrum Features, and Jason Matsumoto of Full Spectrum will now take the lead on introducing teachers and students to this incredible educational resource. It’s critical that people continue talking and learning about this history, so we can’t wait to see The Orange Story in classrooms across the country!
